About Moore By Design

I'm Edward Moore, and Moore By Design is my art practice, based out of my home studio in Ladonia, Alabama. My work is a direct reflection of my life's journey, blending my upbringing in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia, the discipline of my service in the U.S. Army, and my lifelong commitment to education.

At its core, Moore By Design is a philosophy of Tenacious Reclamation. I believe the world operates in a "dual reality": on one side, there's the "grainy" chaos left by human society; on the other, there's the "perfectly in focus," divine design of nature. My art serves as a "portal," bridging these two worlds.

Through my work, I create "Living Artifacts"—pieces of fine art and sculpture crafted from discarded and reclaimed materials. Each piece, from the sculptural "Lamp of Reclamation" to my limited-edition prints like "The Quiet Triumph," has a documented story of its journey from a discarded "scar" to a beautiful "rainbow."

My mission is to invite others to see with clarity, to find the quiet magic in the overlooked, and to become a steward of a legacy that honors the enduring beauty of our world.

Found and Transformed: The Art of Tenacious Reclamation

I believe the world's most profound beauty is not found, but reclaimed.

My art practice is a philosophy of Tenacious Reclamation. It is the art of finding beauty in what is discarded, of revealing a profound story in the seemingly overlooked.

Through the meticulous process of transforming weathered, forgotten materials and fleeting moments of light, I create Living Artifacts. Each piece is a testament to the quiet strength of nature, a palpable story of resilience.

This is an invitation to witness the journey from 'scar' to 'rainbow' and to find the extraordinary in the seemingly ordinary.

Forage and Exploration. The core of exceptional stories. These elements are intwined into the production of every piece.

Discovery. The inception of life based the natural impact of the materials on the land scape. This is the “scar” or mark that inspiration is drawn from.

Act of Reclamation. This is the physical and artistic transformation of the raw material.

Conception. The idea of grand design. What are the materials going to create?

Forging. This step is the bridge between the conceptual and the physical. It is where the idea of the Living Artifact solidifies. The goal is to make the materials' story tangible for the future steward

Legacy. The final step in our journey is not a conclusion, but a continuation. It is the Investiture of Legacy, where the exclusive Living Artifact and the story of its creation are transferred from our hands to yours, its new steward.
