"Lamp of Reclamation: Light of Resilience"

$1,275.00

Artwork Type: Mixed Media Sculpture / Functional Luminaire

This Living Vital Artifact began its journey not with a blueprint, but with an act foraging along the Chattahoochee and spanning River Valley. The core material was human waste, abandoned wood—discarded, forgotten, and scarred by nature's tenacious process to reclaim what was discarded. The boards were not seen as waste, but as a silent testament to endurance, a relic found in a scar.

In the studio, the transformation began. The wood was carefully reclaimed, The wasted boards were milled on the table saw, and the sharp edges of its former life were softened, each curve gentle carved into the new formed frame to reflect it’s time spent in nature. This process involved hours of labor and meticulous planning , with each step taken to imbue the the newly formed frame with refined purpose.

  • The Unveiling: The reclaimed blocks were meticulously arranged to create a new form. Nestled amongst them, a landscape of blue and white sands—whispers of the very river banks from which the wood was salvaged—were encased in clear, cool epoxy. The act created a profound juxtaposition: the chaotic history of the wood, marked by weathering and scars, held in perfect, luminous order, mirroring the eternal presence of the Chattahoochee.

This luminaire is more than a source of light; it is a portal. As it casts its warm glow, 'The Lamp of Reclamation: Light of Resilience' becomes a quiet testament to an enduring spirit, reminding all that observe it that even in what is discarded, there lies an enduring story, waiting to be illuminated. It is a work that has earned its light, and it is now ready to begin its next chapter.
